Terms of Reference: IMS and media reporter officer 

Location: Aden

Contract type: One-year  extendable based on performance

Number of staff: 1 

Job Summary:

 

The IMS and Media Reporter Officer is responsible for managing information management systems and reporting on media activities. They collect data, analyze media coverage, and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders. The Officer also monitors social media platforms, drafts press releases, and organizes media events. Strong communication and writing skills are essential for this role, along with proficiency in information management systems and media monitoring tools.  

 

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Prepare weekly reporting, monthly reports outputs, success stories, and etc.
  2. Provide critical inputs and analysis from reporting draft to be submitted  on time.
  3. Provide regular mentorship and guidance to field staff to ensure quality reporting;
  4. Proofread all content in English version prior to release.
  5. Translate various types of reports and project documents from Arabic to English and vice versa;
  6. Contribute to monitoring and evaluation activities as requested;
  7. Provide guidance and support to media as applicable;
  8. Supported by Data Management staff, analyze and synthesize data, create infographics, interactive maps, and/or other communication materials as needed;
  9. Contribute to regular project data review, ensuring accurate data collection, and analyzing the data to ensure the meeting of donor targets, and protection of key trends for further reporting and analysis;
  10. Establish and communicate a reporting schedule ensuring submission of reports in a timely manner, and thus provided quality assurance of data with the support of Data Management staff. 
  11. Compile field level information required to produce weekly and biweekly progress updates, monthly Situation Reports donor appeals, and updates related to the humanitarian assistance in the country following the standard reporting format/scheme, quarterly indicator reports, bi-annual, annual reports and other narrative reports as assigned by the relevant departments;
  12. Overseeing reporting and data quality in an accurate and timely manner;
  13. Systematically screens and cross-checks internal and external reports, situational reports, information and communication material for accuracy and consistency;
  14. Maintains a close collaboration with the Monitoring and Evaluation team, field and technical Teams to ensure a smooth exchange of information.
  15. Provide technical support, training and clarification on reporting policies;
  16. Monitor and review regular sources of information and data required for preparation of reports, e.g., news clippings, surveys, information from field monitors, food statistics reports;
  17. Train The Technical Team on the requirements of the donor reporting templates.
  18. Perform other related duties as required.

 

Job Requirements:

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in IT , graphic design, media, multimedia, journalism, or any related field.
  2. Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in a related field.
  3. Excellent organizational and communication skills and teamwork-oriented management style.
  4. Fluency in written/ verbal Arabic is required.
  5. Fluency in written/ verbal English is preferable.
  6. Proficient in standard Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other standard software package.
  7. Ability to deal with design and montage programs (Adobe Creative suite).
  8. Ability to work under pressure in existing operational environment.
  9. Strong background in photography or photojournalism with proven professional portfolio.
  10. Experience in producing media materials (writing stories, production of video).
  11. Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.

- Ability to write well in English and produce engaging communication materials.- Proven skills in the development and implementation of communication/media products and tactics.- Excellent interpersonal skills complemented by the ability to conceptualize ideas and advocate consensus.- Excellent presentation skills- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure to achieve multiple deadlines.- Ability to "think out of the box" and to make innovative proposals to extend communication reach.- Demonstrated ability to work within an emergency context at the all levels.

The This Position will receive a competitive salary commensurate with their qualifications and experience. The salary package will include base salary, taxes, social security contributions, health insurance, and life insurance, as per the organization's policy.
