Job Title: Storekeeper (Preferably a pharmacist)
Duty Station: Taiz
Contract Type: Full-time
Duration: 08 months
Job Summary:
The Storekeeper, preferably with a background in pharmacy, will be responsible for managing pharmaceutical and medical supplies across targeted health facilities in Taiz. This role is critical to ensuring the safe storage, accurate inventory, and timely distribution of essential medications and supplies, particularly those used in the treatment of acute malnutrition, communicable diseases, and maternal health. The Storekeeper will work closely with healthcare providers and project teams to ensure compliance with health regulations, prevent stockouts, and maintain high standards of medication safety and quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Inventory and Stock Management
· Maintain accurate inventory records of all pharmaceutical and medical supplies using standardized stock cards and digital tools.
· Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile discrepancies.
· Monitor stock levels and prepare timely requests for replenishment to avoid stockouts.
2. Storage and Quality Control
· Ensure proper storage conditions for medications, including temperature control, hygiene, and security.
· Implement First-Expired-First-Out (FEFO) and First-In-First-Out (FIFO) principles to minimize waste.
· Inspect incoming supplies for quality, expiry dates, and compliance with specifications.
3. Distribution and Coordination
· Prepare and dispatch medical supplies to health facilities based on approved distribution plans.
· Coordinate with health facility staff to ensure accurate and timely delivery of supplies.
· Maintain documentation for all dispatches, including delivery notes and stock movement records.
4. Compliance and Reporting
· Ensure all storage and distribution practices comply with national pharmaceutical regulations and organizational policies.
· Report on stock status, consumption trends, and potential supply gaps to the Health or Logistics Officer.
· Support audits and monitoring visits by providing accurate records and facilitating access to storage areas.
5. Collaboration and Support
· Work closely with healthcare providers to understand medication needs and usage patterns.
· Support training and capacity building for facility staff on stock management and medication safety.
· Participate in coordination meetings with logistics, health, and program teams.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
· Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of experience in pharmaceutical or medical supply management, preferably in a humanitarian or health project setting.
· Technical Skills:
· Knowledge of pharmaceutical storage standards and inventory systems.
· Familiarity with health supply chain procedures and documentation.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory management tools.
· Language: Native Arabic with good written and spoken English.
· Soft Skills:
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Ability to work independently and under pressure.
· Good communication and teamwork abilities.
