Contract type: One-year extendable based on performance

Job Summary:
The Accountant is responsible for managing financial accounts and records for clients. They ensure accurate bookkeeping, prepare financial statements, and handle tax filings. The accountant collaborates with clients to provide financial advice, analyze budgets, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Job responsibilities and duties:
• Handling project accounts from the beginning to the end of the project and taking responsibility for all related accounting and financial matters
• Produce periodic and monthly financial reports in accordance with donor standards, policies, procedures and internal standards.
• Produce customized reports as required and respond promptly to inquiries from project management
• Monitoring project progress, checking variances, approving expenditures, and ensuring timely issuance of project invoices and expenditures.
• Accurately monitor reports and submit monthly, quarterly and year-end closing reports in a timely manner in the correct manner according to the regulated grantor deadlines and rules.
• Coordination with internal and external auditors during audits and financial audit preparation
• Create project accounts in the accounts system
• Maintain project related records
• Work with the Procurement and Logistics Department to review and approve supplier invoices related to the project
• Reviewing the account totals related to project assets and expenses
• Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to Senior Accountant and Management
• Close project accounts when the project is completed
• Compile information for internal and external auditors, as appropriate
• Prepare the bank reconciliation and petty cash settlement in a timely manner and send it to the chief accountant for review
• Effective communication with the Project Manager, regarding contracts, change orders, other contract modifications, approvals and any additional services related to billing.
• Prepare final invoice package containing draft invoices and final invoices for all billable items, including all applicable backups for approval
• Maintain invoices folders, with all appropriate documents in accordance with standards and procedures.
• Review and audit payment requests for completeness and compliance.
• Managing all project budgets.
• Review the payment request documents to follow up on the payment process.
• Preparing daily financial payment vouchers.
• Ensure that financial rules, regulations and procedures are followed.
• Perform any other duties that may be reasonably required for this role
Qualifications:
• University degree in accounting.
Experience and Abilities:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in financial/accounting field in NGOs
- Advanced skills in MS Office applications, especially Excel.
- Strong command of Arabic and English languages
- Good communication skills
- Flexible to work long hours and weekends, if needed.
- Strong representation and negotiation skills
- Willingness to commit and adhere to the values, mission and vision of the Organization .
- Ability to adhere to deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Salary and Benefits:
The This Position will receive a competitive salary commensurate with their qualifications and experience. The salary package will include base salary, taxes, social security contributions, health insurance, and life insurance, as per the organization's policy.
